Johanna Salem is a sustainability strategist and multidisciplinary builder working at the intersection of business transformation, climate, wellbeing, and culture.
She leads sustainability strategy for one of the Middle East’s largest family business groups. Her work translates global ESG frameworks into practical action: embedding climate, environmental and social impact across investment decisions, operations and long-term value creation.
Her works narrows the distance between ambition and implementation, beginning with strategy and governance, and extending into the systems through which sustainability becomes real: technical requirements for buildings and industrial projects, engineering and infrastructure decisions, procurement standards, data and operating processes.
The other side of implementation is human. Through facilitation and climate education, she works with teams to make complex systems understandable, build shared language and help people see where they can actually intervene.
She is driven by a conviction that the future belongs to organisations that create value not only for shareholders, but for the people and places they inhabit. Combining systems thinking with a deep curiosity for human behaviour, she explores how business, culture and nature can evolve together to build places and experiences people genuinely thrive in.
Beyond her corporate role, Johanna is an investor and creative entrepreneur building ventures at the intersection of wellbeing and design. Moving between boardrooms and creative spaces, her work is united by a broader ambition: to help shape businesses that are resilient, human and regenerative.
Trained as a civil engineer at McGill University, with a focus on environmental and water resources engineering, Johanna also holds CFA Institute’s Climate Risk, Valuation and Investing Certificate and is a trained Climate Fresk facilitator. She began her career with global organisations at EY and Oliver Wyman before moving closer to implementation, first at Dubai Holding and now at Albatha Group.
